Teacher Seminar Application
Deadline Extended: February 22, 2012
K–12 history, social studies, language arts, and English teachers are invited to apply to the 2012 Gilder Lehrman Teacher Seminars. Taught by renowned historians on college campuses in the US and the UK, these one-week interdisciplinary seminars give educators the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of topics in American history and literature while gaining practical resources and strategies to take back to their classrooms. The George Washington Teachers’ Institute is a residential teacher professional development program focused on the life and times of George Washington, and his legacy. The institute is free of charge for teachers who are selected, and meals, residence on the Estate, and a travel stipend are provided. Carla Killough McClafferty, www.carlamcclafferty.com, has been invited by
C-SPAN 2 Book TV to be the keynote speaker while they are in Little Rock doing segments about history and literary life in six southern cities for their 2012 television season. The taping will air on Book TV during “Little Rock Weekend” which will run from March 31st through April 1st. After it airs, the segment will be archived online indefinitely. A special presentation about The Many Faces of George Washington: Remaking a Presidential Icon will be videotaped.
