The George Washington Teachers’ Institute is a residential teacher professional development program focused on the life and times of George Washington, and his legacy. The institute is free of charge for teachers who are selected, and meals, residence on the Estate, and a travel stipend are provided.  Visit the Opportunities for Educators page for more information, and an application.

A 2012 National Endowment for the Humanities professional development opportunity for K-12 educators.  Two summer sessions:

Carla Killough McClafferty, www.carlamcclafferty.com, has been invited by

C-SPAN 2 Book TV to be the keynote speaker while they are in Little Rock doing segments about history and literary life in six southern cities for their 2012 television season.  The taping will air on Book TV during “Little Rock Weekend” which will run from March 31st through April 1st.  After it airs, the segment will be archived online indefinitely. A special presentation about The Many Faces of George Washington: Remaking a Presidential Icon will be videotaped.
