WHAT: AR HISTORY summer seminar opportunity

WHO: Butler Center/CALS

FOR: secondary social studies teachers

WHEN: June 12-14

  • funded by the Arkansas Humanities Council
  • focus on Civil Rights issues; essential questions regarding the Emancipation Proclamation, the Freedom Trail, the Southern Tenant Farmers Union, Jim Crow, Desegregation of Central High, Sundowner Towns, and Civil Rights Legislation   
  • Attendees will participate in a lecture about the Civil War in Arkansas.
  • History content and curriculum guidelines will be presented.   
  • Attendees will receive resources for use in classroom instruction.  Attendees will be expected to provide resource sharing ideas for use on the Arkansas History Hub.

“Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America” Now – July 17, 2012

 

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in Arkansas, the Clinton Presidential Center is proud to present “Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America,” currently on loan from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois.

“Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America” was created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of America’s 16th president and examines Lincoln’s life from his beginnings to his ascension to the Presidency and his assassination.

The display is included with regular admission fee.
